Biography

Don Thomson

Woodburning is my favourite medium.  Although nature studies are a frequent focus of my work, Celtic designs, pet portraits and silhouette impressions are some of my other themes. I also get great satisfaction working on commissioned pieces.

My artistic career began as a figurine painter and master mould maker in an Isle of Man pottery, before I became the owner of a commercial stained glass studio and regular exhibitor of drawings in juried art shows and magazines.

Now, working out of Newmarket, Ontario, Canada I am fortunate to be able to practice my art full-time. Exhibiting for the first time in the 2016 Canadian Woodcarving Champions, one piece received 1st place in the wood burning category with others placing 2nd and 3rd in category.
